MASH-C Farms 2026 Beef Pricing
We charge $5.00/lb hanging weight.
Our goal is to get the beef to around 1000-1200 lbs. live weight (weight of the animal before processing). When the processing starts, the animal will be stripped of the head, hide, and organs. The carcass is then hung to age. The weight of the meat at this point is called the hanging weight (usually about 62% of the live weight). This is what we charge for. Here’s an example of the cost:
A quarter of Beef
· Usually includes 100-140 lbs. of meat (depends on size of cow)
· Will include ground meat, roasts, ribs, and steaks
· Charge $5.00/lb. according to the hanging weight
1100 lbs. (live weight) x 62% = 682 lbs. (hanging weight)
682 lbs. x $5.00/lb = $3410 for whole beef
$3410 x 25% (your portion) = $852.50 final cost
A half of Beef
· Usually includes 200-240 lbs. of meat
· Will include ground meat, roasts, ribs, and steaks
· Charge $5.00/lb. according to the hanging weight
1100 lbs. (live weight) x 62% = 682 lbs. (hanging weight)
682 lbs. x $5.00/lb = $3410 for whole beef
$3410 x 50% (your portion) = $1705 final cost
A Whole Beef
· Usually includes 400-500 lbs. of meat
· Will include ground meat, roasts, ribs, and steaks
· Charge $5.00/lb. according to the hanging weight
1100 lbs. (live weight) x 62% = 682 lbs. (hanging weight)
682 lbs. x $5.00/lb = $2985.50 for whole beef
$3410 final cost
